2024-25 SJHL Alumni Roundup: AUS

Eight-nine Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League alumni made an impact on Canadian University hockey this past year.

Here is a breakdown of a few of the biggest seasons SJHLers had on USports in 2025-25 by conference.

Up first is the farthest east division, the Atlantic University Sport Conference, also known as AUS.

Given the distance from the Maritimes, which comprise the AUS, to the three USport leagues, it is the one with the fewest SJHLers.

Acadia University’s Kian Bell, whose number has already been retired by the Battlefords North Stars after two SJHL MVP campaigns in a row, had a solid rookie campaign when healthy. He posted four goals and 10 points in 13 regular-season games this past year, followed by a goal in five postseason contests.

Dalhousie University is about to receive a large influx of SJHL players starting next year. Still, the man there already, Flin Flon Bombers alumnus Zak Smith, has already played in an impressive 49 contests for the Halifax-based school with 13 points over that span.

Finally, former Weyburn Red Wings and Flin Flon Bombers star Cade Kowalski found a landing place at the University of Prince Edward Island after transferring from NCAA Division I Ferris State University in the summer of 2023. Sixty-four games later, Kowalski has 16 career USports points.
