2025 SJHL Draft set for June 10

REGINA, SK – Upon the conclusion of the Melfort Mustangs’ successful run at the 2025 Centennial Cup and their second consecutive Canterra Seeds Cup championship, the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League now turns its focus to the 2025 SJHL Draft, Presented by UPL.

The draft is set for June 10, 2025, and will be presented live from the IKS Media studios in Regina beginning at 1:00 P.M. Saskatchewan Daylight Time on the SJHL’s Facebook and X pages, and YouTube channel.

“The SJHL draft is a special time of year for families, prospects, and for our teams,” said Kyle McIntyre, SJHL Commissioner.

“This past season the SJHL saw a record number of Saskatchewan born players competing in our league. The SJ continues to produce quality players and citizens and continues to develop complete and competitive officials, broadcasters and players. Stay Here Play Here.”

SJHL Co-Directors of Media Clark Munroe and Jamie Neugebauer will be live to present and break down the picks as they are made, while communications team member Rory McGouran will be providing interviews and analysis of the status of the 12 clubs.

All the picks will be posted on league social media as they happen, with the exceptional talents of Creative Eleven’s Connor Tate at the controls.

It will be an eight-round draft, with two rounds of selections to be made of 2010 birth-year players, followed by six rounds of selections to be made of 2009 birth-year players.

Players eligible to be selected must be:

  • Saskatchewan residents
  • From outside of the 12 SJHL markets (or not ‘auto-protected’)
  • Un-drafted by any SJHL team previously

Players are expected to be selected from the Saskatchewan Under-18 ‘AAA’, ‘AA’, and Under-15 ‘AA’ leagues, as well as the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (or CSSHL).

Draft order, pending trades, will be determined by the 2024-2025 SJHL regular season standings, in reverse order.

Numerous picks from the Under-16 portion of the 2024 SJHL Draft (2008s) made their debut for their respective clubs a year ago, while five of the Top 6, and six of the Top 8 first-round picks from the 2023 SJHL Draft were important contributors to their teams this past season.

A major goal of the league is to provide the premium option for Saskatchewan-born talent to stay in their home province, and the draft is a large piece of that vision.
