NORTH STARS MAKE IT 12 STRAIGHT

The Battlefords North Stars have run their season-high winning streak to 12 games, after Tuesday night’s 4-2 win over the Nipawin Hawks.

The win was a milestone one in more ways that one, as it was the 20th victory of the season for the Stars (20-5-0-0), in just their 25th game.

Kendall Fransoo, Ben Allen and Reed Delainey each had a goal and an assist while Brett Horn also found the net and Joel Gryzbowski made 29/31 saves in the win.

Brett Harasymuk and Chad McCartney scored for the Hawks (11-6-2-0), and Kristian Stead made 35/39 saves.

The Melfort Mustangs used their powerplay to come from behind and stun the Melville Millionaires.

Down 1-0 late, the Mustangs struck twice on the man advantage, Andrew Thompson with 2:56 to play, and Wyatt Hinson won it with just one second left in regulation.

Evan Plotnik made 27/28 saves for the Mustangs (8-11-1-2).

Jake Sutton opened the scoring for the Millionaires (10-10-1-0), also on the powerplay, and Brandon Wells made 33/35 saves.  Melville saw their winning streak snapped at three games.
