The Flin Flon Bombers completed a trade with the MJHL’s Niverville Nighthawks and have made changes to their overage situation.
The Bombers have sent overage forward Austin Montgomery-Parsons to Niverville in exchange for a Player Development Fee. Montgomery-Parsons was acquired prior to the season opener from the Wellington Dukes of the OJHL and chipped in with 2 goals and an assist in 10 games with the Bombers.
The Bombers have signed former QMJHL forward Leighton Carruthers. The Upper Tantallon, Nova Scotia product began this season with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies and had 2 assists in 2 games. Carruthers had been with the Rouyn-Noranda’s organization since the 2021-2022 season and has over 200 games over major junior experience. In 220 career regular season games in the QMJHL, Leighton produced 47 points. During the 2023-2024 QMJHL playoffs, Carruthers put up 2 goals and 3 assists in 10 games helping the Huskies reach the Western Conference Semi-Final.
“We are excited to add Leighton to our group. His experience and physicality will be a huge asset to our team. We identified Leighton months ago through our Eastern Canada connections in hopes that we would be a good fit for him if things didn’t work out in the QMJHL.” Bombers Head Coach & General Manager, Mike Reagan.
Carruthers will be making his Bombers debut tonight in Melfort.
