REGINA, SK – The Flin Flon Bombers heavily outshot and out-chanced College Francais de Longueuil in Game 1 of the 2026 Centennial Cup but could not solve Mathis Lacroix-Goulet in a 1-0 defeat.

Mike Reagan’s men put 26 shots on the veteran Quebec-league net minder Lacroix-Goulet, including on half-breakaways from Connor Miller in the third period and Wyatt Stinton in the first.

The Bombers outshot Longueuil in every period, including 10-2 in the final frame. Still, it was a perfect re-direct from Samuel Beaulieu on a College Francais power play at the 13:39 mark of the middle stanza that was the only goal of the contest.

The result echoes last year’s Centennial Cup Game 1, wherein the Melfort Mustangs, like the Bombers, had plenty of chances, but could not bury them en route to falling to start the tournament.

In this year’s rendition of the opener, Charlie Tritt stopped 11 of 12 shots, but that did not tell the story, as he was sharp as usual in net for Flin Flon.

The Bombers went 0-for-6 with the power play, while College Francais was 1-for-5.

One loss does not derail the tournament for the SJHL champions, as the Top 3 out of each group of five reach the playoff round.

The Bombers have three more games left in the Round Robin to earn their spot.
