The Flin Flon Bombers left East Central Saskatchewan with three wins this weekend.  Their seventh straight win was a 5-1 decision in Melville on Sunday afternoon, and it vaulted them into 4th place in the SJHL overall standings.  They went into the weekend in 7th, but the standings are that tight, and the Bombers keep on winning.

Cade Kowalski had two goals and two assists to pave the way, while Brandson Hein also scored twice, giving him 36 goals on the year, the second most in the league.  His 60 points have him 5th.  Chrystopher Collin also scored and added an assist, while Jacob Delorme made 20/21 saves running his personal mark to 10-3 on the year.

The Bombers (27-13-0-2) are now a point up on Melfort and Kindersley, and all of a sudden six points back of Nipawin for the Sherwood Division and league lead with two games in hand.  They host the Battlefords North Stars on Friday and Saturday, and the two teams each have 56 points.  The Stars sit 2nd overall as they lead the Global Ag Risk Soltuions Division.  Before heading to Flin Flon for the weekend, the Stars host Kindersley in a pivotal divisional game on Tuesday.

Melville (13-24-3-3) is now winless in their last seven games (0-5-1-1).  They’re a point up on Weyburn for the final playoff spot but have now played two more games.  They led Sunday’s matchup, as Damian Bentz opened the scoring and they held that lead through the first period.
