BOMBERS OFFENSE ERUPTS IN WIN OVER ESTEVAN

Rob Johnson scored his first two goals as a Bomber and Nick Shumlanski also picked up a pair of goals and added two assists as Flin Flon emerged 7-4 winners over the high scoring Estevan Bruins on Friday night at the Whitney Forum.  The Bombers opened up a 4-1 first period lead on the strength of three powerplay goals.  Mike Wong, Isaac Jackson, and Crystopher Collin rounded out the scoring for Flin Flon.  Collin’s goal was the rookie’s 14th of the year in 22 games.  League leading scorer Zach Goberis scored twice and set up another to lead the Bruins.  He now has 24-goals and 19-assists in 27-games on the year.  Tyson Manz and Michael McChesney also scored for Estevan.

The Highway-10 Battle went to Melville as the Mils defeated Yorkton 5-3.  Defenseman Clayton Eisler scored two and picked up an assist to lead the Mils, who busted open a 1-1 guy with three second period goals.  Montana Streit, Dayton Heino, and Damian Bentz also scored for the Mils, who are now 9-15-and-2, eight points ahead of La Ronge for the 10th and final playoff spot.  Parker Gavlas, Slater Strong, and Evan Nicholas had goals for Yorkton.

The Nipawin Hawks peppered Jordan Frey with 50-shots and went on to beat the La Ronge Ice Wolves 4-1.  It was Nipawin’s fourth straight win and they climb to within two points of first place Melfort in the Sherwood Division.  The Hawks also have two games in hand.  Brandan Arnold and Josh McDougall scored a goal and an assist to lead the offense.  Kenzie Arnold and Thomas Lenchyshyn also scored for the Hawks.  Tanner Brewster scored for La Ronge.
