In the lone game of the day Sunday, the Humboldt Broncos kept their perfect record intact as they knocked off the Notre Dame Hounds 7-1.
It was a complete 60-minute performance for a Broncos team who hadn’t played since Tuesday when they beat the La Ronge Ice Wolves 6-2 at home.
Cage Newans and Connor Thue led the way for the Broncos as they each found the back of the net twice.
Benjamin Motew made 16 saves in the victory for Humboldt as they sit atop the Nutrien Division with a 4-0 record and are currently tied with Melville for playing the least amount of games so far this season (four).
For the Hounds, this wrapped up an extremely difficult road trip which saw them play three games in three nights with two contests in Flin Flon and the Finale in Humboldt. Vincent Palmarin had the lone goal for Notre Dame in the loss.
Both the Broncos and Hounds will return to the ice on Wednesday. Humboldt will play host to the Weyburn Red Wings and the Notre Dame Hounds will seek some revenge as they welcome the Flin Flon Bombers to the Duncan McNeil Arena.
