Broncos & Stars One Win Away from 2nd Round

It was another full slate of gamesWednesday night across the SJHL as part of the 2023 playoffs presented by UPL as all four series played Game Four of their best of seven series. Two teams moved to within one win of the 2nd round, while two series are now tied at two. Director of Media Jeromy Corrigan has a full recap of Wednesday night’s action down below, along with highlights from three of the four Game Four’s. (No highlights for Melfort/La Ronge due to change of location)

Humboldt 4 Nipawin 2 (Humboldt leads series 3-1)

Battlefords 6 Weyburn 1 (Battlefords leads series 3-1)

Flin Flon 0 Estevan 3 (Series Tied 2-2)

Melfort 3 La Ronge 1 (Series Tied 2-2)

It was another low scoring, tight contest between the Melfort Mustangs and La Ronge Ice Wolves, but this time it was the Mustangs getting the upper hand. Joel Favreau stopped 29 of 30 shots in the victory, and Cameron Emigh netted the game winner with 13:27 to go in the 3rd period. The series will head back to the Northern Lights Palace in Melfort tied up at 2.

Thursday is an off day for the league, but then action will resume Friday with all four series playing Game Five.
