The Estevan Bruins have added another piece to their blueline just 10 days before the start of the 2021-22 SJHL regular season.

The Bruins’ have acquired right-handed defenceman Billy Sowa (’02) from the BCHL’s West Kelowna Warriors in exchange for a Player Development Fee (PDF).

Sowa (5’8, 160 lbs) comes to Estevan as 19-year-old but already with 117 games of junior hockey experience between the WHL (Swift Current Broncos – 68 GP), AJHL (Sherwood Park, Fort McMurray – 30GP), and BCHL (West Kelowna – 19GP). Sowa has tallied 16 PTS (2G, 14A) spread over the past three seasons.

“Billy Sowa is a player that adds depth to our roster. He’s a player that can play big minutes and in all situations. We are excited to have him join our group.” – Jason Tatarnic, Head Coach/GM.

The addition of Sowa puts the Bruins with nine defencemen currently on the roster. The Bruins have one more preseason game remaining (3pm on Sunday, Sept. 19th in Weyburn) before the regular season home opener on Friday, Sept. 24th hosting the Yorkton Terriers at Affinity Place.
