Bruins’ forward, Rylan Ringor has announced his commitment to York University (U-Sports) for the fall of 2025.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be joining a program as highly regarded as York, both on and off the ice,” the 20-year-old forward said, following Tuesday’s announcement. “It feels surreal having somewhere like that to call home for the next four years, and I couldn’t be happier. After playing for some amazing programs in junior I am very thankful I can continue to play for one at the next level.”
Off the ice, Ringor said York was a natural fit as well, as the school also offers a chance to further his education in his desired field of either neuroscience or biomedical sciences.
“York aligned my interests pretty perfectly as they are nationally renowned academically, and I’ve heard nothing but good things about their hockey program,” he said. “I really enjoyed my conversations with the coach and it really seemed like a no brainer to end up pursuing the opportunity to attend there.”
A Winnipeg, MB., product who played over 220 games of junior, split between the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL), Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) and Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL), Ringor really found a home for himself with the Bruins this year.
Acquired by Estevan ahead of the CJHL Trade Deadline in mid-January, the shifty playmaking forward quickly established himself as a natural fit on the right-wing side of Steven Steranka and Ewan Rennie on the Bruins’ top line, registering 20 points (four goals, 16 assists) in 25 games down the stretch.
Head coach and G.M. of the Bruins, Drew Kocur said he’s looking forward to seeing Ringor continue to make an impact at the next level.
“I’m very happy for Rylan on his commitment to York University,” Kocur said. “Rylan is a great person and does a lot of good things on the ice. He has good vision and can score and we’ll be wishing him all the best in his new adventure at the U-Sports level. Looking forward to watching him continue his development in academics and hockey.”
Ringor said he’s grateful for his time spent donning the Spoked-B.
“I’d like to thank everyone in Estevan that helped make this happen. From my amazing billets the Parks, my teammates and to the staff I am sincerely appreciative for everything. I will forever be grateful for my time spent in Estevan.”
York University is located in Toronto, ON. The Lions’ men’s hockey team competes in the Ontario University Athletics Conference of U-Sports.
