BUZIAK GETTING NOTICED BY NHL CENTRAL SCOUTING

By Mike Stackhoues

NHL Central Scouting released its Watch List earlier this month and it features a former SJHL player amongst the 14 current and 30 CJHL alumni who are ranked.

1998 F Braydon Buziak, who cracked the Regina Pats opening night line-up and has fired five goals through his first nine games on one of the Western Hockey League’s top teams, is identified as a C List player, which means he could be projected as a round 4-5-6 selection in the June 2017 NHL Entry Draft.

Buziak, who hails from North Battleford, AP’d with the Kindersley Klippers for two games in the 2014-15 season and then was a regular with the North Stars last season, scoring 6-goals and 13-assists in 55-games played.

The road for Buziak, thus far, hasn’t been an easy one.  He went unselected in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft and was even dropped from the Pats’ 50-man protected list midway through this past season.  However, he sought and received another training camp invite for the 2016-17 season and made the final cut.
