REGINA, SK – The 2024 Canterra Seeds SJHL Final has been set as a match-up between the league’s Nos. 1 and 2 seeds, the Flin Flon Bombers and Melfort Mustangs, respectively.
Flin Flon defeated the Kindersley Klippers and Battlefords North Stars in consecutive four-game sweeps. At the same time, Melfort needed a five-game set with the Estevan Bruins in Round 1, and a hard-fought seven-game thriller with the Humboldt Broncos in Round 2 to reach the final.
It is the third final appearance in a row for the Bombers, while it is the Mustangs’ first appearance since they fell in four games to the Battlefords North Stars in 2019. The last time either one of these franchises won the league was, in fact, 2016 when Melfort took down this same Flin Flon club in six games. Both head coaches and general managers, the Mustangs’ Trevor Blevins, and the Bombers’ Mike Reagan, were at the helm that year as well.
Flin Flon is still looking for its first SJHL championship since 1993.
