Bombers’ Carruthers commits to UNB (USports)

The Flin Flon Bombers are excited to announce that graduating forward Leighton Carruthers has committed to the University of New Brunswick (U-Sports).

Carruthers signed with the Bombers at the end of October after spending the last four seasons in the QMJHL with Saint John and Rouyn-Noranda. In 220 career QMJHL regular season games, Carruthers produced 47 points. Leighton also played in over 20 post-season games while playing in the QMJHL.

After joining the Bombers the product of Upper Tantallon, Nova Scotia was a point-per-game player by putting up 19 points in 18 games. After suffering an injury in January, Carruthers returned to the lineup throughout the Bombers post-season run and had 5 goals and an assist in 5 games.

The University of New Brunswick hockey program is considered by many as the top U-Sports program in Canada. The Reds have won 10 National Championships and currently compete in the Atlantic University Sport Conference. The program has won their conference 7 years in a row.
