REGINA, SK – On a Tuesday night where three marquee matchups were on the docket, two resulted in well-earned shutouts.
Callum Creig made a whopping 50 stops, and Dustin Renas added a goal and an assist as the Yorkton Terriers shut down the Flin Flon Bombers 3-0 at the Whitney Forum.
It was the reigning IKS Media SJHL Rookie of the Week Creig’s second shutout in three games. He has now given up only six goals in six games played so far this campaign and two in his last four contests.
In Melfort, it was the Mustangs’ second-year man Kristian Coombs who put on a show, stopping 32 Battlefords North Stars shots en route to a 4-0 victory for the defending champs. Reilley Kotai led the way with a pair of assists, and Nolan Patterson notched the game-winner in the first period.
Finally, in Humboldt, the Red Wings rallied late, and Max Chakrabarti’s goal at the 10:21 mark of the third period salvaged a point before Broncos’ defenceman Oakley McIlwain ended proceedings 3:06 into the extra frame to hand the hosts a 4-3 win.
