Broncos forward, Jerzy Orchard has announced his commitment to Simon Frasier University of the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League (BCIHL) for the 2022/23 season.
Orchard was acquired by the Broncos from the Merritt Centennials (BCHL) midway through this season, in his final year of junior hockey. The Delisle, SK native picked up 19 points (9g-10a) in 22 games, before adding 7 points in 11 playoff games.
“We are very happy for Jerzy that he landed this commitment to SFU. He had this very high on his list of priorities,” said Head Coach and GM, Scott Barney. “Jerzy bought into our systems and our beliefs extremely quickly. He is a player with high end skill who elevates his teammates with his play on a nightly basis. SFU is getting a top-notch character individual and a great hockey player. We wish him all the best.”
SFU will enter the 2022/23 season as defending champions, winning their fourth BCIHL Championship, culminating an undefeated season this past year.
SFU is located in Burnaby, British Columbia. While a part of the BCIHL, they often compete against USPORTS and NCAA DIV I competition in interleague exhibition games.
Orchard marks the 7th Humboldt Bronco this season to announce a post-secondary commitment.
The Humboldt Broncos would like to congratulate Jerzy and his family on this accomplishment
