Directwest Commitment: Bruins’ Rumsey commits to Saskatchewan

Estevan, SK (April 11, 2022) – The Estevan Bruins of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) are thrilled to announce forward Mark Rumsey has committed to attend and play for the University of Saskatchewan.

Rumsey (01), finished with 76 points (39g, 37a) in 56 games.  Rumsey finished third overall in league scoring but recorded the most goals scored by an SJHL player this season with 39.  Rumsey also recorded the most power play goals scored with 16.  Currently Rumsey is second in playoff scoring with 6 goals and 6 assists in 9 playoff games.

“Mark has been a key player for us all season and his offensive numbers speak for themselves. Mark has scored some important goals for us this season, but he has also been a player that has been used on the penalty kill.  Mark has continued his offensive game throughout the playoffs and has been a key part of us advancing to the SJHL finals.  Mark has the skill set to be a great university player and we wish him all the best at U of S,” said Bruins Head Coach & GM, Jason Tatarnic. The 6-foot-3, 205lb forward from St. John’s, NL, played for the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles of the QMJHL before joining the Estevan Bruins this season.

The University of Saskatchewan Huskies are located in Saskatoon, SK, and compete in the Canada West Division under Head Coach Mike Babcock.
