Nipawin Hawks forward, Chirstian Albertson has found his home to continue his hockey career and pursue his post-secondary education.

The 2001-born forward announced he has committed to Ohio University and become a member of the Bobcats for the 2022/23 season.

Albertson has spent the past three seasons in the SJHL, with the middle year being held to just four games due to the pandemic.

He started his junior career with the Melfort Mustangs, picking up 16 points (9g-7a) in 41 games in his rookie year. The Saskatoon native was then traded to the rival Nipawin Hawks prior to the 2020/21 season.
Albertson was held off the scoresheet during his four games in the COVID-shortened campaign. However, he has set career highs in goals, assists, and points this season with 22 points (14g-8a) in 54 games played in his final year of junior hockey with the Hawks.

Albertson become the first Directwest commitment for the Nipawin Hawks this season.

He was drafted 47th overall (Rd. 4) by the Melfort MustangsĀ  in the 2016 SJHL Bantam Draft and is scheduled to play his 100th career SJHL game in the Hawks’ final game this season on Tuesday, March 8th.

Ohio University is located in Athens, Ohio and competes in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA).

Congratulations to Christian, his family, and the Nipawin Hawks organization.
