Nipawin Hawks captain Cole Beamin has committed to York University of USportsĀ  for the 2022-2023 season.

Beamin, 20, spent four years as a member of the Hawks’ organization, and posted 27 points in 131 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League games.

A physical 6-foot-5, 220-pound defenceman, he split time in his junior career between Nipawin and the Prince George Cougars of the Western Hockey League, where he featured 30 times for the northern British Columbia squad.

From Saskatoon, Beamin made the Hawks in 2018-2019 out of his hometown Contacts U18AAA, and quickly established himself as one of the best defensive defencemen in the league.

York University, in Toronto, ONT., plays in the Ontario University Athletics conference of USports, Canada’s top post-secondary league.
