The first Directwest NCAA Division 1 Commitment of the 2021/22 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League season has been revealed.
Humboldt Broncos 2003-born forward Connor McGrath announced his commitment to Ferris State University to play for the NCAA Division 1 Bulldogs once his Junior career is complete.
McGrath, who recently joined the Broncos in September after being acquired from the Weyburn Red Wings, has had an incredible start to his junior career. Currently, he leads the SJHL in scoring with 28 points (8 goals and 20 assists) through 20 games played.
McGrath split his two Midget hockey years between the Prairie Hockey Academy and the Midget AAA Moose Jaw Warriors, scoring 84 points in 76 games.
“It’s an honour to be able to further my hockey career and education at such a great school and program. Excited for the future!” – Connor McGrath.
“We are really excited for Connor and feel it’s much deserved after his start to the season. We are looking forward to seeing his continued growth in the Broncos uniform.” – Head Coach & GM Scott Barney.
The Ferris State Bulldogs are located in Big Rapids, Michigan and play at Ewigleben Arena.
With the youth movement throughout the SJHL and the high-end talent that it has brought to the league, it wouldn’t shock anyone to see McGrath’s commitment be the first of many in 2021/22.
