The Melfort Mustangs are proud to announce that 2001-born forward Seth McCulloch has committed to the Marian University Sabres for post-secondary hockey.
McCulloch played his entire three-year Junior ‘A’ career with the Melfort Mustangs, playing a total of 96 games in the SJHL. In his final season with the Mustangs this year, the Coutts, Alta. product scored 10 goals and added 13 assists for 23 points in 37 regular season games. McCulloch would also return from injury for the final three games of the Mustangs playoff series against Yorkton, scoring once and adding three assists. He was also an Assistant Captain this season.
“I heard about Marian through some of the guys I played with my first year in Melfort, and have only heard good things about the school,” McCulloch said. “Once the coaches got a hold of me and we started to make a connection, all of those good things I had been hearing became more visible. The coaching staff is great, and I am so excited to get down to Wisconsin and further not only my hockey career, but my academics as well.”
During the 2020/2021 COVID-19 shortened season, McCulloch played in five games, tallying three assists for the Mustangs.
As a rookie in 2019/2020, McCulloch played in 49 games, scoring four goals and added six assists for 10 points. He would also accumulate 117 penalty minutes along the way, that was good for fourth on the team that season.
The Marian Sabres are based in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and play in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association in NCAA Division III. McCulloch will join a number of former SJHLers at Marian, including former Mustangs Nolan Kadachuk, Alex Rondeau, and Austin Nault.
