DOUG JOHNSON

COACH/GM – NIPAWIN HAWKS

For the second straight season, and third overall, Nipawin Hawks’ Head Coach & General Manager Doug Johnson has been named the SJHL’s Coach Of The Year.  Johnson led the Hawks to the best record in the league this season, finishing up at 43-8-3-4, good for a winning percentage of .802%.  The Hawks went 27-0-1-2 during a 30-game, 99-day stretch when they avoided a regulation defeat between November 10th, 2017, and February 17th, 2018.  Johnson has had the Hawks in contention most years he’s been at the helm, but it went to the next level this season, and this was his first Sherwood Division and league pennant.  The Hawks begin their post-season run the weekend of March 16th when they’ll take on the lowest seed to come out of the Best-of-Three Wild Card series.  They’ll face either Notre Dame, Flin Flon or Melville.
