Former Hawks defenseman Landon Pappas has committed to one of the top men’s hockey programs in the NCAA Div. 1 ranks.

The Airdrie, Alta. product has committed to the Bemidji State Beavers in Minnesota.

Pappas spent his junior hockey rookie campaign in Nipawin and scored six goals and added 23 assists for a spectacular first season as an 18-year-old. In the summer the United States Hockey League’s Fargo Force took notice and drafted him in the 13th round of the USHL draft. He is now on the Force’s roster. Nipawin Head Coach and General Manager Tad Kozun is extremely excited to see the blueliner move on and continue his development.

“The staff and I could not be happier for Landon,” Kozun said. “He came into Nipawin last year and was as good as player someone can coach. He bought into everything a Nipawin Hawk means. Landon’s continued hard work has gotten him into the lineup of a team in a marquee league, now he’s committed to a top end college program. Landon was a great Hawk, and our program is ecstatic his start was here and his goals are being reached.”
