FINAL GOING SEVEN!

The Flin Flon Bombers kept the SJHL Championship a homer series, winning Game 6 at the Whitney Forum 6-1 over the Estevan Bruins on Tuesday night, forcing a Game 7 Friday night in Estevan.

After a scoreless opening period, the Bombers racked up three straight in the second frame, thanks to Drew Kuzma, Xavier Lapointe and Cole Duperreault.  Mark Rumsey got one back for the Bruins early in the third, but Flin Flon bounced right back for three more unanswered, from Jaeden Mercier, Jaxon Martens and Zak Smith.  All three finished with a goal and an assist.

Cal Schell picked up the victory making 33/34 saves, and now has a .935 save percentage in the playoffs.  Boston Bilous stopped 37/42 shots in goal for the Bruins.

Friday’s Game 7 is a 7:00 start Saskatchewan time, and one of the two teams will win their first SJHL Championship since the 1990’s.  Both teams will also be back in Estevan later this month for the Centennial Cup as part of the 10 team field battling for a National Junior ‘A’ Championship.
