The National Champion of the 22/23 CJHL season will be determined this afternoon as the SJHL Champion Battlefords North Stars meet the AJHL Champion Brooks Bandits.
The top two teams in the CJHL based on the Top 20 rankings for most of the season will collide at Stride Place, and for many it is the Final people were hoping for.
The Brooks Bandits are undefeated at the 2023 Centennial Cup, sporting a perfect 5-0 record and are coming off a 3-0 win in the Semi-Final against the Ottawa Jr. Senators.
Meanwhile, for the Stars, they earned a spot in the National Championship thanks to a dominant 7-1 win over the Host Portage Terriers.
Both team’s have numerous weapons up front as Steven Kesslering (Stars) and Aiden Fink (Bandits) sit tied at the top of the goal scoring list for the tournament, but both have played superb on the defensive side of the ice during the tournament.
The Bandits have only allow 4 goals in 5 games, while the Stars have allowed just 8.
This is Battlefords first time in the National Championship Final, and for Brooks they are looking to win their 3rd straight National Title.
Puck drop for the Centennial Cup Final is at 2pm (Sask) and fans can tune in Live on TSN or follow along across the SJHL social media channels for live updates of Sunday’s Final.
