REGINA, SK—Five games were played on a busy Friday night in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, and four of them featured unbeaten teams that stayed perfect.
The Yorkton Terriers scored three times in the first period, one goal of which was league points leader Jaron Desnoyers’s sixth tally of the campaign, and handed the Humboldt Broncos their first loss of the year 6-2.
In Flin Flon, the La Ronge Ice Wolves parlayed a brilliant 39-save performance from Logan Falk into a 4-3 overtime victory over the Bombers at the Whitney Forum. Hudson Cameron scored twice, his second coming 1:17 into the extra frame to down the reigning regular season champions.
Rookie goaltenders Madden Mulawka and Taylor Tabashniuk, recently brought in by the Melfort Mustangs and Melville Millionaires, respectively, were both solid in their debuts. They backstopped their respective clubs to victories to keep their clubs perfect for the year.
Finally, in Nipawin, the Kindersley Klippers remained unbloodied, scoring four straight goals in the second and third periods after going down 2-0 early to the Hawks. Another 2006-born rookie, Brett O’Halloran, took the victory in net for Kindersley, his third of the year already.
