REGINA, SK – Melville captain Boston Harkness dangled home the winner on a breakaway at the 3:27 mark of overtime moments after Fuzz Aafedt made a miraculous stop on an odd-man rush the other end of the ice to hand the Millionaires a 2-1 win over the Weyburn Red Wings.
Aafedt made 32 stops in the victory, one of which included a penalty kill and multiple great chances on both ends in the extra frame.
Lucas Schmid sniped the game-tying goal for the visiting Wings with 1:59 remaining on the clock to send the contest into OT in the first place.
Elsewhere in North Battleford, it was the host North Stars who downed the Yorkton Terriers 4-1, with two goals and an assist from Anthony Campbell.
Josh Knittig also added three points in the win.
Finally, in Warman, Kindersley’s Avery Johnson snapped a six-game goalless drought with a hat trick, and the Klippers cruised past the Wolverines 9-4.
Five different Klippers registered multi-point nights.
All four dressed goaltenders saw action on the contest.
