REGINA, SK – All four higher seeds held serve in Game 1 of the 2025 SJHL Playoffs, presented by UPL.
In the first post-season game in Yorkton since Apr. 7, 2022, the Terriers took care of business over the Highway 10 foes. Reigning Borgault SJHL Forward of the Year, Jaron Desnoyers led the way with a goal and an assist, and Yorkton downed the Melville Millionaires 4-1.
The tightest game of the night came in Weyburn, where the No. 3 seed Red Wings scored four times in the second period and held on to beat the Battlefords North Stars 4-3. Wings’ star Jaxson Ruthven was the high scorer with a goal and an assist on the evening.
In Melfort, the No. 1 seeded Mustangs were given a real fight by the Kindersley Klippers, but reigning SJHL scoring champion Reilley Kotai showed his pedigree with two goals and an assist in a commanding 5-2 victory.
Finally, in Flin Flon, it was all Bombers, as Leighton Carruthers scored twice in his first game back since Jan. 8, and the home team cruised past the Humboldt Broncos 5-0.
