NIPAWIN, SK – The first SJHL SaskTel Game of the Month of the 2024-25 season Friday in Nipawin was a classic.
The host Hawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Melfort tallied three third-period power-play goals to take the contest 3-2. It was a victory that extended the Mustangs win streak to 14 and pushed them to 13-0 in one-goal games on the year.
In La Ronge, the Flin Flon Bombers extended their unbeaten run to 13 games through a 3-1 win over the Ice Wolves. Matthew Kieper made 27 stops in the Flin Flon net to improve his record to 8-0 on the season.
Brock Evans scored with 6:18 remaining in regulation, and the Kindersley Klippers defeated their West Sask rival, the Battlefords North Stars, 2-1.
Finally, in Estevan, Humboldt rallied to tie the game in the third period, but Ewan Rennie scored the winner with less than four minutes remaining in the final frame, handing the Bruins the 3-2 victory over the Broncos.
The Notre Dame Hounds at Yorkton Terriers was postponed due to inclement weather.
