FRIDAY RECAP – Oatman’s big night lifts Mils past Bruins

REGINA, SK – Rylan Oatman scored four goals and added a helper as the Melville Millionaires outlasted the Estevan Bruins 5-3 on Friday.

Matthew Spencer-Dahl made 33 saves in the win that moved Melville three points ahead of Estevan in seventh, and within three points of Melfort, who sit sixth.

Oatman now has eight points in his last three contests, seven of which were against the Bruins.

Carter Cole notched the winner 7:48 into the third period to help the Nipawin Hawks snap the Melfort Mustangs’ 12-game win streak with a 3-1 victory.

Gage Roberts stopped 29 shots in the win, while Braeden Jockims scored to extend his goalscoring streak to a remarkable nine games in a row, with 11 finishes over that span.

Mason Karakochuk also had two assists to extend his point streak to a league-high 13 games. He has 26 points over that time.

In Flin Flon, the Bombers remained unbeaten at home in regulation as Jack Martin’s shot dribbled over the line 1:34 into overtime en route to a 4-3 win vs. the Battlefords North Stars.

The Bombers are now 24-0-1 at the Whitney Forum this season.

Martin also scored in regulation time, while Kobe Sawyer added a pair for Battlefords.

Flin Flon has also now clinched first overall in the league standings, and will have the No. 1 seed throughout the post-season.

Gabriel Kaminski had two goals and an assist, and the Humboldt Broncos moved within two points of the eighth and final playoff spot via a 7-5 victory over the La Ronge Ice Wolves.

Grayden Perozni responded with two goals and a helper for the Wolves.

Finally, in Yorkton, it was the Weyburn Red Wings who broke out to a 3-0 lead and held on for a 6-3 win.

Callas Pierce and Will Munro both counted two-goal games while Nate Stevens made 26 stops in the victory.

The win kept Weyburn even on points with Nipawin, though the Hawks maintain their hold on fourth due to the tiebreaker.

There are at most four games remaining in the season.
