REGINA, SK – Kobe Sawyer scored the winner with 4:16 remaining in the third period and the Battlefords North Stars rallied past the Estevan Bruins 7-5 on a wild Friday night in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.
The Bruins and Stars combined for seven goals in the third period, and both teams had at least two leads over the course of the contest.
In Warman, the Wolverines got six different goal scorers, including Oliver Nottingham’s game-winner in the third period, and came back against the Melville Millionaires to earn a 6-3 victory.
Brodie Scopick was the only Warman player with a multi-point game, posting two assists on the evening.
In the first-ever Canalta Hotels Friday Night Spotlight clash between the Nipawin Hawks and Humboldt Broncos, it was the latter who emerged with a 3-2 win.
Tyce Penrod scored the winner 1:23 into the final frame, and the Broncos held on behind 39 saves from Charlie Tritt.
Tritt leads the league in goalie wins (8) and save percentage (.951).
The third-period rallies around the league continued in Kindersley. This time it was the visiting Melfort Mustangs who got the game-tying goal at 18:27 of the third period from Cole Unger, and the winner 43 seconds later from Ryder Ellis to edge the Klippers 5-4.
Finally, in Yorkton, it was all Flin Flon as the Bombers got hat tricks from Joey Lies and Hudson Brehaut en route to an 11-0 victory.
Devin Peck made 25 stops for his first career SJHL shutout.
