REGINA, SK – Wyatt Stinton potted a goal in regulation and the winner in the shootout as the Flin Flon Bombers edged the Weyburn Red Wings 3-2 on a super Friday.

Weyburn’s Ryder Rommelaere tied the contest at two at the 10:26 mark of the third period as the Wings completed their comeback by outshooting the Bombers 13-5 in the final frame.

Flin Flon netminder Charlie Tritt made several difficult stops out of his 27 saves to help his club improve to 19-0 at home on the campaign.

Red Wings Joey Rocha was equally solid, making 25 stops in earning the point.

In Yorkton, Thomas Ries poked a loose puck home with 3.3 seconds remaining in regulation to lift the Terriers to a come-from-behind 5-4 victory over the Estevan Bruins.

Ries, who leads all SJHL defencemen in goal scoring, and teammate Cash Lanigan both scored others in the final frame as Yorkton won its fifth in a row.

Estevan’s Nathan Kam was spectacular in making 45 saves in defeat.

Oliver Philips scored in the first period as well as the winner in the shootout, and Matthew Bradley made 40 saves as the Humboldt Broncos outlasted the Melville Millionaires 3-2 in the skills competition.

Broncos assistant captain Rylan Hue tied the game at two with 3:30 left in the third period.

In Melfort, the Mustangs opened their four-game home stand with a critical 5-2 victory over the Kindersley Klippers.

With No. 8 Melville and No. 9 Humboldt facing each other, points were crucial for the Mustangs.

Canisius NCAA Div I commit Luke Mackenzie’s goal at 8:11 of the middle frame held up as the winner.

Kason Kobelka made 34 saves in the win.

Gage Roberts stopped all 26 shots he faced to move into a tie for first in shutouts among all SJHL goaltenders with four as the Nipawin Hawks blanked the La Ronge Ice Wolves 4-0.

Mason Karakochuk led the way with two goals and an assist and has eight points in three February games thus far.

Eric Hoiness, Karakochuk’s centreman, also added three points and has eight in three on the month. He has points in 14 of his last 16 games, with 22 points over that span.

The Hawks moved ahead of the Red Wings with the win, into fourth place on regulation wins, while Yorkton moved ahead of both with the same formula, despite all three being on 56 points.

Finally, in Warman, Drew Williamson led the way with two goals and two assists to lift the Battlefords North Stars past the Wolverines 8-5.

Six different Stars counted multi-point nights, while four Wolverines did the same in the high-scoring contest.

Kaeden Serpa made 26 saves in the win, and Linken Fisher of Battlefords and Pherson Loehndorf both scored to become the second and third defencemen in the league to hit double-digit goals.
