FRIDAY RECAP: Wings hold off Klippers’ rally, Hounds score comeback win

NORTH BATTLEFORD, SK – The Weyburn Red Wings pushed their unbeaten streak to 11 games Friday, with only a single overtime loss among those contests. Luke Dekay’s two points led the way as the Wings held off a late Klippers’ rally in Kindersley to win 5-4.

In Melville, La Ronge got the game-winner from Grayden Perozni at the 13:38 mark of the third period as the Ice Wolves beat the Millionaires 3-2 to take their third victory from three games on their southern swing.

Notre Dame roared back with four-straight goals at the North Stars, including the overtime winner from Liam Hunks, as the Hounds edged Battlefords 4-3. Hunks had two goals and two assists in the evening, with points for all four ND goals. Vincent Palmarin’s blast tied the contest with 14 seconds remaining in regulation.

Finally, the Yorkton Terriers scored three straight in the third period, led by a pair from Quinn Tavender, to upend the Bruins 5-2 in Estevan. After their highly publicized three-game forfeit, Yorkton has stormed back into fourth place in the SJHL standings at the time of writing. The game was played at a neutral-site venue at the Cote First Nation.
