Scoring in Bunches (But Not Against Nipawin)

The Flin Flon Bombers ended the Yorkton Terriers’ five game winning streak with a 7-5 victory at the Whitney Forum on Friday night.  The Bombers now have points in their last six games (4-0-0-2).

Brandson Hein scored twice, giving him 15-goals in 15-games on the season, while Nate Hooper had a four point effort with a goal and there assists.  Vincent Nardone, Daylan Marchi and Caleb Franklin all had a goal and an assist while Dawson McKenzie rounded out the scoring for Flin Flon (9-4-0-2).

Jared Legien led the Terriers (7-5-1-0) with a pair of goals, his 12th and 13th on the year, 15 seconds apart in the first period.  Cody Bruchkowski and Dino Antoniadis added singles.

The Sherwood and Viterra Division leaders square off again on Saturday night.

The Battlefords North Stars and La Ronge Ice Wolves one-upped (actually three-upped) the Terriers and Bombers’ offense, putting up 15 goals as the Stars out-lasted the Ice Wolves 9-6.

Elijah Loon-Stewardson (2g-1a) and Ryan Gil scored twice each.  Matthias Urbanski had a goal and three assists and Seth Summers also had three helpers.  Regan Doig (1g-1a), Brett Gammer, Owen Lamb and Kaden Boser rounded out the long list of scoring for the North Stars (8-4-0-1).

The Ice Wolves (4-10-0-0) had six different goal scorers as Mitch Zambon and Zach Bannister each had a goal and two assists.  Antonio Di Paolo (1g-1a), Kolby Johnson (1g-1a), Jake Gudjonson and Max Kleiner also found the net.

There was no shortage of goals on Friday except in the Nipawin Hawks’ net, as Declan Hobbs made 27 saves for his second shutout this season as Nipawin started a road trip with a 4-0 decision in Weyburn.

Austen Flaman opened the scoring on a late first period powerplay.  Jeremy Bisson and Gage Misskey (1g-1a) added second period markers and Brodie Girod added his first of the year in the third for the Hawks (8-4-0-0).

Cody Levesque turned away 26/29 shots in goal for the Red Wings (5-6-0-1), who are now winless in five.

Luke Spadafora scored 2:10 into overtime and the Humboldt Broncos edged the Melville Millionaires 3-2 (OT) on the road.

The Broncos (9-5-1-0) trailed 2-1 after two periods, but Zach McIntyre forced extra time with his fourth goal of the season.  Michael Bladen added a first period goal and Dane Dow made 29/31 saves.

Damian Bentz opened the scoring for the Millionaires (2-8-2-2) and Josh Borynec gave them a 2-1 lead in the second period in his first game as a Millionaire.

And the Estevan Bruins snapped a recent slide with a 5-1 win over the visiting Melfort Mustangs.

Jake Heerspink, Bryce Platt and Isaiah Thomas all had a goal and an assist, while Jayden Davis and TJ Irey added markers.  Grant Boldt picked up his first SJHL win making 23/24 saves for the Bruins (6-7-0-0).

Tanner Zentner scored and Hunter Arps made 30 saves for the Mustangs (7-4-1-0).
