Jared Legien had a goal and an assist, and Andrew Suriano made 23/24 saves as the Yorkton Terriers won their second straight and moved back to .500 (5-5-2-0) with a 4-1 decision over the Melfort Mustangs on Friday night.

Shane Sherban, Jordan Ross and Carson Welke did the rest of the scoring.

Mustangs’ captain Sam Houston scored his first goal of the season and Ryan Ternes made 19/20 saves coming on in relief.

Brandon Wells stopped 33 of the 35 shots he faced, winning his third straight start and Tucker Scantlebury was in on all three of his teams’ goals as the Melville Millionaires edged the Weyburn Red Wings 3-2.

Alex Maticic and Dayton Heino also scored for the Millionaires (6-8-1-0).

Shaun Fleming got the start for the Red Wings (9-4-0-1), making 28/31 stops, while Ian Parker and Jacob Wozney picked up the goals.

The Weyburn loss allowed the Estevan Bruins to retake sole possession of top spot in the Viterra, with a 4-3 win over visiting Nipawin, their 10th win (10-3-0-1) of the season.

Jason Miller scored twice, giving him 8 goals on the year.  Michael McChesney (1g-1a) and Lynnden Pastachak added the others and Nic Tallarico made 23/26 saves.

Replying for the Hawks (6-3-2-0) were Eric Soar, Michael Grant and Keegan Kjargaard.

The Flin Flon Bombers also moved back into first in the Sherwood, as their offense made a triumphant return in a 6-3 win over Kindersley.

The Bombers (7-6-1-1) were led by Greyson Reitmeier’s two goals and Jason Lavallee’s three points (1g-2a).  Brandon Lesko (1g-1a), Ben Lanfermann and Rylee Zimmer all found the net, as the Bombers piled up five second period goals.  Brenden Newton got the win with 24/27 saves.

Sam Binfet, Ivan Vilcauskas and Ryan Rebelato responded for the Klippers (5-8-0-0), who have now lost five in a row.

And in Battlefords, the Humboldt Broncos scored first but the North Stars did the rest as they defeated the league-leading Broncos 5-1.

Layne Young (2g-1a) and Coby Downs scored twice each, Ben Allen had the other, while Levi Kleiboer had three assists and Connor Logan added a pair.

Joel Gryzbowski made 28/29 saves, improving to 5-1-0 (1.17 GAA, .955%) on the season.  The Stars (10-5-0-0) moved to within three points of the Broncos for the Finning Division lead.

Parker Wakaruk opened the scoring for the Broncos (11-3-0-1), who get set to host Yorkton on Saturday.
