MELFORT, SK – Chase Friedt-Mohr was named the UPL Canada Most Valuable Player of the Playoffs in the direct aftermath of his Melfort Mustangs 2024 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League championship.
Friedt-Mohr, 20, scored nine goals and added 14 assists in 18 post-season games, and his 23 points in the playoffs are the most by an SJHL defenceman since Dustin Nehring of the Yorkton Terriers scored 24 in 2006.
A University of Regina, USports commit, the Prince Albert, SK native scored 14 goals and 56 points in the regular season. He was a member of the 2024 SJHL/MJHL Showcase in January in Winnipeg, and was a SaskTel SJHL Defenceman of the Year nominee.
The former Prince Albert Minto U18AAA man led all skaters in the final with over 33 minutes of ice time per game.
Friedt-Mohr split 90 career SJHL games between the Kindersley Klippers and Mustangs, and also spent time with the Spokane Chiefs, Edmonton Oil Kings, and Tri-City Americans of the Western Hockey League.
