Fundraising events are a vital source of income for SJHL clubs

Fundraising is a big part of running a Junior “A’ franchise and in addition to the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League finding ways to drum up support for the 12 teams these same clubs also have numerous events held throughout the year to generate revenue.

The Battlefords North Stars, for example, have a progressive 50/50 draw in place with the final draw set for next Wednesday when the league-leading North Stars host the Nipawin Hawks.

Tickets for this fundraiser are $50 each with a maximum payout of $12,500 hopefully going to the lucky winner. Tickets can be purchased by contacting the North Stars’ office at 306-445-7827 or by sending an e-mail to office@northstars.ca.

The Kindersley Klippers also have a progressive 50/50 set up with 1,000 tickets at $100 each being sold to generate the possibility of a $50,000 payout to the lucky winner on Feb. 29/2020. Tickets for this draw can be purchased by calling 306-430-8011.

One cannot forget to mention the recently announced 50/50 Stars Pegasus Project that is a partnership between the SJHL and Stars Ambulance. Tickets for this fundraiser are $10 each or five for $20, 25 for $50 or 100 for $100. The draw will be made March 6, 2020, with 50 per cent of the gross sales going to the holder of the winning ticket while the remainder will be split between the SJHL and Stars.

Every team, at one point or more during the year, have unique ways of raising funds for their respective teams and when possible these will be highlighted on the SJHL website to try and ensure maximum participation and success.

Please try and support any of these three aforementioned fundraisers and when more news of others becomes available it will be passed on to the public as well. Each team relies heavily on strong support and while it would be ideal to support all of them, there are options out there.
