The Flin Flon Bombers and Nipawin Hawks will play a seventh and deciding game in their SJHL Semi-Final series, after the Bombers rolled to a 5-1 win on home ice in Game 6 Sunday night.
The Bombers trailed the series 3-1, but back to back wins have the series heading back to the Whitney Forum for Game 7 on Tuesday night.
Sunday night the Bombers got off to a hot start, and rode their powerplay and another stellar goaltending performance from Brenden Newton to their second straight win in the series.
Eric Sinclair, Jason Lavallee and Greyson Reitmeier (1g-1a) scored first period goals before Nipawin’s Eric Bolden got one back in the second. Nate Hooper added the Bombers’ third powerplay goal in the third period (finished the game 3/6), before Kristian St. Onge (1g-1a) finished the scoring with an empty-netter.
Brenden Newton made his second straight start and allowed just a single goal once again, stopping 33/34 shots. In this series alone, Newton is 2-0, 0.79 GAA, .977%.
Kristian Stead made 30/34 saves in goal for the Hawks.
The Bombers host Game 7 Tuesday night at 7:30 Manitoba time, 6:30 Sask time.
