Hawks’ Bernauer commits to Red Deer

Nipawin Hawks’ Alex Bernauer has committed to Red Deer Polytechnic of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference for the 2024-25 campaign.

Bernauer, 21, posted 34 points in 41 games with the Hawks this past Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League campaign and has 110 career Junior A points split between the Grande Prairie Storm of the Alberta Junior Hockey League, the OCN Blizzard of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, and the El Paso Rhinos of the North American Hockey League.

A native of Saskatoon, Bernauer captained the 20-21 Saskatoon Contacts U18 AAA team that included six National Hockey League prospects including Kalan Lind (Nashville), Brayden Yager (Pittsburgh), Riley Heidt (Minnesota), Caden Price (Seattle), Kevin Korchinski (Chicago), and Noah Chadwick (Toronto).

Red Deer is the two-time ACAC champion and featured 16 SJHL veterans on the roster last season.
