HAWKS END TRIP WITH OT WIN

After losses in Weyburn and Estevan to start the weekend, the Nipawin Hawks ended their three game trip with a 4-3 overtime win in Notre Dame on Sunday.

After building a 3-0 lead, the Hawks (7-3-0-0) watched the Hounds claw all the way back to force overtime.

Jordan Simoneau and Brodie Girod scored first period goals, and Josh Lester extended the lead in the second.  Jarrett Penner got one back in the second period for the Hounds (4-5-1-0), before Jared Hamm and Qaritag Kusugak-Clark got them back to even in the third.  All three Hounds’ goals came with the powerplay as they finished the night 3/5 with the man advantage.

With less than a minute to go in overtime, Zach Cox buried the winner for the Hawks.  Ethan Slobodzian made 22/25 saves in the win, while Riley Kohonick stopped 22/26 shots at the other end.
