HAWKS WIN IN OVERTIME SUNDAY

By Craig Stein

Kenzie Arnold’s first goal of the season came just 34 seconds into overtime Sunday, and the Nipawin Hawks beat the Estevan Bruins 5-4 in the extra frame.

Kenzie’s older brother Brandan continued his torrid scoring pace, adding his 12th of the year in his 14th game, and an assist. Carter Doerksen (1g-1a), Austin Mikesch and Gage Misskey rounded out the scoring and Declan Hobbs made 23/27 saves in the win.

The Hawks (12-5-1-2) out-shot the Bruins (14-6-2-0) 48-27, as Matt Lukacs made 43 saves for Estevan.  Kaelan Holt, Arthur Miller and Hayden Guilderson all had a goal and an assist for the Bruins while Zach Goberis notched his 22nd goal in his 22nd game.

Estevan went 2-1-1-0 during a four games in five nights road trip which saw them in Melfort, Flin Flon, La Ronge and Nipawin.

One game Monday night will see the Melville Millionaires travel to Weyburn in an all Viterra Division battle.
