Hounds’ Borsos commits to Regina (USports)

Notre Dame Hounds goaltender Spencer Borsos has committed to the University of Regina of USports for the 2024-25 CanadaWest campaign.

Borsos, 21, posted a 3.94 goals-against average and .900 save percentage in 46 games last season while leading the league in minutes played with 2,587 – 317 more minutes than second place.

A native of Calgary, AB, Spencer was acquired by the Hounds from his hometown Canucks of the Alberta Junior Hockey League during the 2023-24 season.

“I am so happy for Spencer,” said then Notre Dame, now Warman Wolverines head coach and general manager Brett Pilkington.

“We acquired him from Calgary a year and a half ago, and he has been great on and off the ice since day one. He is a true competitor and grinds daily for the betterment of the team.”

Borsos made 109 Junior A appearances over his career between 2021 and 2025, and was responsible for all but one of ND’s victories a year ago.

He is also an alumnus of the Calgary Royals U18AAA, and NAX Prep in the CSSHL.

“I’m thrilled to join the University of Regina and take this next step in my hockey journey!” he said.

“My time with the Notre Dame Hounds and the SJHL molded me into a stronger player, teaching me grit, teamwork, and dedication.”

He joins former Junior Hounds forward Cole Wirun on the University of Regina recruitment list for next season. Wirun departed the Hounds last off-season for the North Iowa Bulls of the North American Hockey League.
