ICE WOLVES BACK IN THE WIN COLUMN

The La Ronge Ice Wolves ended a winless streak of 10 games (0-9-0-1) Wednesday night, edging the Kindersley Klippers 3-2 at the Mel Hegland Uniplex.

In his second start with the Ice Wolves, Aaron MacKay made 25/27 saves, and now has a win and a shootout loss under his belt.  Derek Patter (1g-1a), Brayden Dunn and Derek Frater did the scoring, and had La Ronge (2-11-0-1) out to a 3-0 lead early in the third period.

Josh Bly and Sam Binfet scored third period goals for the Klippers (5-7-0-0), who dropped their fourth in a row.  Justen Close made 34/37 saves.

The Estevan Bruins went into Melville and beat the Millionaires 7-2, to move back into a tie with Weyburn for the Viterra Division lead as we near the quarter pole.

The Bruins and Red Wings have identical 9-3-0-1 records through 14 games.

Estevan was led by Levi Barnstable’s two goals on Wednesday.  Michael McChesney, Zach Goberis, Jason Miller, Jayden Davis and Matt McNeil all added singles, and Nathan Alalouf made 22/24 saves, as the Bruins held a 41-24 edge on the shot clock.

Aaron Aragon and Tucker Scantlebury replied for the Millionaires (5-8-1-0).
