REGINA, SK – The La Ronge Ice Wolves scored four goals in the final 5:05 of the third period and stayed alive in the playoff race with a 7-5 win over the Melfort Mustangs Wednesday.
Cole Thomas led the way for the Wolves with his second hat trick of the campaign, while Ashton Hutchinson replied with a pair of his own for the No. 1 seeded Mustangs.
La Ronge now sits three points behind Kindersley for the last spot in the post-season with two games remaining. This means that the Wolves must win their remaining games, and the Klippers must lose all of theirs for La Ronge to make it in.
Elsewhere in Estevan, U18 AAA call-up Ryder Gilroy scored, assisted, and scored in the shootout as the Notre Dame Hounds snapped their 18-game losing streak via a 4-3 victory over the Bruins.
Hounds veteran Damian Metastasio evened the contest with less than a minute remaining in regulation, and then Neka Jean added what would end up the winner in the skills competition.
Notre Dame has two more games in their existence before they move to Warman next season.
