Klippers Better Odds At Division Crown

By Craig Stein

WINGS START THREE GAME TRIP WITH LOSS

The Kindersley Klippers won their third straight game, moving four points up on Humboldt and Battlefords, with a game in hand on each, in the race for the Global Ag Risk Solutions Division pennant, with a 5-3 decision over Weyburn on Thursday.

The Klippers (30-12-3-2) joined Nipawin as the only other team at 30+ wins, and are now six points back of the Hawks for the top spot overall, with a pair of games in hand.

Austin Nault had two goals and an assist on Thursday, while Noah Bankowski, Will Van der Sloot and Kyle Bosch also scored.  Zach Johnson made 29/32 saves.

Jordan Kazymyra scored twice and Connor Pyne added the other for the Red Wings (15-28-4-0), who are now winless in three and still three points back of Melville for the final playoff spot, now even in games remaining with the Millionaires, both with 11 left.

Weyburn continues on to Humboldt for a pair of games Friday and Saturday.  Also Friday, Yorkton heads to Battlefords, Flin Flon welcomes La Ronge, and Melville and Estevan open a home-and-home.

The Klippers look to continue a perfect February on Saturday when they host Yorkton.
