KOHONICK, HOUNDS BLANK KLIPPERS

Riley Kohonick turned away all 43 shots he faced and the Notre Dame Hounds shutout the Kindersley Klippers 4-0 on Thursday night.

Kohonick made 19 saves in the second period alone, en route to his third shutout this season and the fourth of his SJHL career.

After a scoreless first forty minutes, all the scoring came in period three, as Jake Dale (1g-1a) and Jarrett Penner (1g-1a) made it 2-0 less than four minutes into the final frame.  Kevin Anderson, a 16-year-old call-up from the ‘AAA’ Midget Hounds scored in his first SJHL game, and Curtis Wiebe added a late short-handed marker.

Matt Sanker made 18 saves in goal for Kindersley, as they out-shot Notre Dame 43-22 despite the loss.

The two teams are now tied for the final playoff position with 34 points in 37 games, and the Hounds (15-18-3-1) continue on to Battlefords on Friday, while the Klippers (14-17-5-1) are now on Christmas holidays until January 3rd.
