A scout with the La Ronge Ice Wolves is cycling this summer for a good cause.

Thomas Skelton has been with the SJHL organization for the past few seasons and is also an associate coach with the Fernie Ghostriders in the KIJHL.

The Swift Current, SK product will ride his bike from Fernie to Kelowna in support of mental health.

“There’s a non-profit called MindRight, for athletes, that a player in our league (the KIJHL) started,” said Skelton. “It was an opportunity to fundraise for them and really get the awareness out for mental health.”

Skelton will start his journey July 2 and conclude the ride July 8. As of earlier this week, Skelton says they have already raised $5,000, which is half of the $10,000 goal.

“There’s six days to travel just eight kilometres shy of 600 kilometres, so that’s with one driving day in there too for some safety reasons on the highway,” said Skelton.
