The longest tenured current Bronco has found his post-secondary home.
The Humboldt Broncos and the City of Humboldt are proud to announce that Maddox Amaral has committed to Nipissing University and will continue his hockey and academic career at the U-Sports Level.
Amaral has spent his entire Jr. A career with the Broncos organization beginning in the 2022-23 season. The Komoka, ON native is currently the longest tenured Bronco topping the list of active players with 146 games played.
“We’re really happy for Maddox that he’s getting the opportunity to pursue his hockey and academic career at the U-SPORT level. He’s been one of the league’s hardest working players for a number of years now and is really deserving of this. Obviously, even before I arrived, he’s worn the Broncos jersey proudly and has been an incredible ambassador for the team and community both on and off this ice,” said Head Coach and GM, Brayden Klimosko.
After one season in the GOJHL, a tier-two Junior hockey league in Ontario, Amaral was recruited to the Broncos and has since served as the assistant captain for two straight seasons.
Through 146 games played, Amaral has compiled 39 goals and 56 assists, good for 95 points to go along with 130 penalty minutes. The now 21-year-old has also suited up for 24 playoff games, adding 14 points (9g-5a).
“I’m super excited to be going to Nipissing next season and I can not thank the Humboldt Broncos organization enough for helping me get to this point. My three years here have been amazing thanks to the coaches I’ve had, my teammates, my billets, and the Broncos fanbase. It means everything to me to be a Bronco. Ill always carry the green and gold with me and I’m looking forward to doing that while furthering my hockey career and education at Nipissing U.
Nipissing University is located in North Bay, ON and competes in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Division of U-SPORTS.
The Humboldt Broncos and the City of Humboldt would like to congratulate Maddox and his family on his commitment to U-SPORTS’ Nipissing University.
