MILLIONARIES EDGE BOMBERS IN SHOOTOUT

By Craig Stein

Eric Soar scored in the fifth round of the shootout, and the Melville Millionaires picked up the extra point, with a 2-1 (SO) decision over the Flin Flon Bombers on Thursday night.

The matchup was all about the goaltenders, as Colby Entz stopped 28 of the 29 shots he faced in regulation and overtime, and all five in the shootout for the Millionaires (14-26-0-1), who snapped their five game winning streak.  Montana Streit scored in the first period for Melville.

Brenden Newton turned away 22 of 23 shots and Nate Hooper scored for the Bombers (15-19-3-4).

The 9th place Bombers are still seven points up on the 10th place Millionaires as the two clubs occupy the final two playoff spots.

Flin Flon continues on to Yorkton on Friday, before finishing their three game trip Saturday in Humboldt.  Melville’s back at it Friday in Weyburn and has the rest of the weekend off.
