REGINA, SK – The Melville Millionaires and Weyburn Red Wings combined for eight power-play goals on 15 total man advantages, but it was the Mils who had the last laugh in a wild 8-4 win Monday.
Melville’s Kale Margolis was the game-high scorer with a goal and two helpers, and there were 12 different goal-scorers in the contest.
The win moved Melville ahead of Estevan into sixth place on win percentage.
In Warman, it was the Melfort Mustangs who extended their win streak to six in a row with a come-from-behind 4-3 overtime win over the Wolverines.
Zayden Sadlemyer sniped home the winner 33 seconds into the extra frame on the power play, while Noel Englot tied the contest on another Melfort man advantage with 4:44 remaining in regulation.
The Mustangs slipped back within one point of the playoff line with three games in hand on No. 8 Kindersley.
Nolan Patterson and Austin Shepherd both had a goal and an assist to lead Melfort, while Pherson Loehndorf scored his 12th of the year for Warman to move within two of the defenceman goals leader in the league.
Anthony Campbell led the way with a goal and an assist to help the Battlefords North Stars rally past the Kindersley Klippers 4-2.
Kaeden Serpa made 35 stops in the win, and Campbell and Kaleb Dewar scored the tying and winning goals, respectively, 30 seconds apart with just over two minutes remaining in regulation.
Nelson now has six goals and eight points in his last five games.
Despite trailing 3-1 after the first, the Yorkton Terriers stormed back with five of the next six goals in the contest to down the Humboldt Broncos 6-4.
Gabriel Courchesne’s goal and three helpers on the night were enough move him back into a share for the league lead in points with Estevan’s Ewan Rennie.
William Leonard’s first-period marker made the 19-year-old the league’s second player to hit the 30-goal plateau this season.
Linemate Jye Zawatsky leads the league in assists with 40 through 45 contests.
Marik Mamic replied with a goal and an assist of his own for Humboldt.
Yorkton kept pace with Battlefords, three points behind the Stars in third with a game in hand.
